about The People

about The doves

We are a small family business, Lynne & Rod Morgan who founded Lovey Dovey UK in March 2007, from a love of keeping Rock Doves for over 30 years. Rods knowledge and understanding of these birds would amaze you, and has grown over the years to make him the person many people go to if they need help with their own flock.

Rod has won numerous awards over the years for both the performance and conditioning of these wonderful birds.

Through providing excellent customer service, well cared for doves and building strong working relationships with funeral directors, ministers and other personnel needed to carry out a funeral service, we have earned our reputation throughout South Wales and beyond as caring, compassionate, and reliable suppliers.

Most Funeral Homes in South Wales will book our services on your behalf, or recommend us to you, including many wonderful independent Funeral Homes such as Morgan Vowles, David L Evans, Pidgeons, Vale Funeral Services, Park Funeral Home Barry, Castle Court, Preedy s, Tovey Brothers, Michael Ryan, Humphries Funerals, and also The Co-op Funeral Care, Dignity Funeral Care and Greenwillow Funerals.

We always listen to your wishes, and wherever possible carry those out. With a flock of over 300 pure white doves, we can cater for the most intimate close family farewell to the grandest of occasions.

We have a flock of over 300 Doves, all of which are free to come and go as they please during daylight hours. The only times they are locked in, is when they are receiving treatments to prevent illnesses these birds are prone to. We breed our own stock and these are handled from day 1. We train them to return home following their release at your event. Their nutrition is precise as to their needs and changes seasonally, and when they are breeding. The balance of grain is also adapted according to their flying schedule.

We care deeply for our flock, they are part of our family; and when you see the condition of our birds, you will see strong evidence that they are extremely well cared for.

In all events where our doves are requested, there is a time limit on how long they can be confined to their cages. Like us humans, some days they love going to work, other times they don't, so we always take many extra doves with us to each service, just in case any are having an off day - then we can simply swap for a different dove if needed.

Every one of our Doves is a Rock Dove and trained to home. Each one is registered with the WHPU, and Rod is a full member of the organization and has been for over 35 years. Understanding of how to train the Doves takes many years to get right, as does the knowledge needed to keep them fit and healthy. With over 55 years combined experience, Rod & Lynne are experts in their field, and belonging to a tight knit community of like minded people through the WHPU. These Doves were part of our family for 21 years before we started our business - we didn't buy the Doves just to make money from them....they are loved.
